Education

I graduated from Rosary High School in St. Louis, MO. in 1977.

I then attended several colleges due to my family relocating after my freshman year at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, MO.

I then proceeded to Ittawamba Junior College to help with not paying for out of state tuition for 1 year.

Attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, Summer of 1981, with a Bachelor of Education K-12 with specifics in SLD/EMH.

I attended Central Missouri State University to be certified to teach Severe and Profound students (therefore certifying me SLD, EMH, and Severe and Profound in the state of Missouri)

I did attend Northeast Missouri State University to begin working on my Master program, but did not finish(completed 12 hours), due to moving back to Mississippi.

Experience

After graduation, I returned to Missouri and began the SLD program at a middle school and two high schools in the bootheel of Missouri (Hayti and Cooter) from 1981-1985.

I then moved just outside of Kansas City, Missouri(Richmond), in 1985, and taught at State School #33 for the severe and profound for 2 years. (I also attended classes to be certified for severe and profound).  I was also on the board for setting up the step ladder pay program that Missouri began to reward hard working teachers that wanted to do the work to get more pay.

In 1987, I then moved back to Mississippi and taught at the consolidated schools; Guntown and Saltillo in a resource room and drove a bus.

After marrying my husband in 1990, we moved to Foley where I have taught at Foley Elementary in the Magnolia House for 1 year.

I was then at Baldwin County High School for the next 15 years, 1991-2006, teaching resource, AOD classes, and inclusion in math classes. I was also the department chair of Special education for the last 6-7 years.

In 1996 till now, I transferred to Elberta Middle School to be closer to my home and children, where I have been inclusion in Math, Language Arts, English, and Science.
